Wishing You A Joyful December! ❄

November 01, 2024

Happy December! As the year winds down, there's much to celebrate this season. Three major holidays will occur this month: Christmas is Wednesday, December 25th, and Hanukkah starts the same evening. Kwanzaa begins the following day, December 26th.  Whether you're celebrating these holidays with others or simply enjoying the season's beauty, we hope this December is filled with joy, warmth, and wonderful moments with loved ones.

The holiday season is filled with special traditions, but there's always room to add your unique twist. Hosting a holiday gathering? Here are some fun ideas to help make your 2024 event your most memorable yet:

  • Provide a hot cocoa bar featuring a wide array of fixins’ that appeals to guests of all ages. If hosting an adults-only party, try one of these delicious beverage recipes with a grown-up twist.
  • Turn your annual white elephant gift exchange into a vintage gift swap – encourage guests to purchase retro items from thrift or antique stores.
  • Tired of the ugly holiday sweater trend? Invite guests to wear holiday pajamas instead!
  • Take the party outdoors. Invite folks for a group hike on a favorite path or a walk to check out seasonal décor.

We'd love to hear about your unique holiday traditions, so feel free to share them with us!

The Winter Solstice occurs on December 21st, marking the arrival of winter. The shorter days and longer nights can leave many struggling to feel the festive spirit this time of year. To help curb these "winter blues," it's essential to find distractions to help you stay active physically and mentally both indoors and outside. Regular exercise (especially outdoors during daylight hours), light therapy, learning something new, or a solid sleep routine can all help. Another way to ease the winter blues is to plan a vacation. Consider booking a trip to one of these fantastic locations, which are ideal for visiting in December. From a picturesque train ride through the Swiss Alps to lounging under the palms in Belize, there's a location for everyone to enjoy!

December can be a bustling month with holiday gatherings, traveling to visit with loved ones, and shopping for last-minute gifts. Unfortunately, the season's distractions create an increased risk of identity theft. Hackers and scammers use several sophisticated methods to trick people into giving them their valuable information. Here are a few robust tips to help keep you safe financially this holiday season and beyond.

  • Enable smartphone fraud alerts for your bank and credit accounts. Anytime there's unusual activity, you'll know about it immediately.
  • If you’re on vacation, refrain from posting about it on your social media until after you return. An empty house is an easy target for thieves.
  • When shopping online, ensure the URL starts with "https://" to indicate it's secure. If you're unfamiliar with the business, spend a few minutes researching it to know if it's legitimate. Deals that appear too good to be true are likely scams.
  • Prevent yourself from falling victim to phishing scams by avoiding clicking on links sent from unknown email addresses or phone numbers. Messages with fake delivery tracking links and online shopping orders are prevalent this time of year.
  • Avoid logging into your bank account or shopping online using public Wi-Fi, as criminals can view your information. Save these tasks for when you are connected to a secure private network.

If you suspect your private information has been compromised, act quickly. Follow these steps to report identity theft.

As we enter this final month of 2024, now is the perfect time to review your finances and make any adjustments before the end of the year. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or have anything else to discuss. We're always here for you. Have a joyful holiday season!
